Design Services Engineer

The Design Service Engineer will play a critical role producing material take offs, quotes and technical submittals for prospective customer following analysis of the supplied project requirements. Your primary responsibility will be to produce accurate takeoffs and quotations of the company’s products, offering expert technical support and advice to staff and a range of customer types including consultants, contractors and distributors, in support of pre-and-post sales technical service activities, delivering solutions to potential and existing customers project requirements through strategic guidance.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Understands and adheres to Company safety, health & environmental and any other Company policies and procedures
  • Responsible for the delivery of technical expertise and can be seen as a technical expert and, first point of contact in their given field
  • Form effective working relationships with, specifiers, installers and wholesalers in support of the Aalberts IPS UK sales team in providing technical support.
  • Work closely with the Aalbert IPS UK sales teams to provide and develop technical customer engagement
  • Responsible for the development of technical quotations, submittals, specification clauses for focus specification products
  • Support function in developing and maintaining technical systems to aid specification and revenue achievement.
  • Liaise with other Aalberts ISP UK departments where required to effectively respond to customer / sales team / customer services requirements
  • Liaise with and support Aalberts IPS UK sales teams to provide support as appropriate.
  • Support Aalberts IPS UK customer services with technical product advice
  • Any other duties commensurate with the grade and nature of this position.

 

Profile / Background

  • Experience or a strong understanding UK Plumbing and HVAC systems and the associated components.
  • A background in technical services or technical support within the plumbing and heating or mechanical engineering industry is desired.
  • Ability to manage multiple customer and colleague queries with conflicting priorities.  
  • Demonstrate excellent communication, presentation skills, and have adequate IT skills to meet the expectations of the role.
  • Communicate openly and concise to all areas within the business in a professional manner.
  • The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate commitment and problem-solving skills to deliver results
  • Willingness to travel within the UK and Europe as required to visit installers & contractors

Eduction

  • HNC / HND in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in HVAC design.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and industry-specific tools (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD, etc.).
  • Understanding of ASHRAE, CIBSE, or relevant standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
